The Lagos State Police Command has begun an investigation after popular Nigerian comedian and content creator, Broda Shaggi, was reportedly hospitalised following a gunshot injury.
According to reports, the entertainer sustained the injury on Sunday while filming a video around the Sango Ota Bridge area in Ogun State.
Sources said he was initially rushed to a private hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos State for emergency treatment before being referred to another medical facility in Ikeja for further care.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the incident came to the attention of the police through a hospital report.
She explained that the medical facility alerted the command after a gunshot victim was brought in, prompting officers to visit the hospital where they identified the patient as Broda Shaggi.
“The hospital reported to the command that a gunshot victim was brought to their facility, and when our officers visited the hospital, we discovered it was Broda Shaggi,” she was quoted as saying.
Authorities have yet to provide full details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, while investigations are ongoing to determine how the incident occurred.
The comedian, known for his viral skits and large social media following, has not yet publicly commented on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
