Security operatives in Kano State have successfully rescued the Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government, Alhaji Hamza Durya, after he was abducted from his residence in Durya village.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours following his abduction from Durya village, prompted a rapid response from security agencies who immediately launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation.
According to the State Government, the operation was led by operatives of the Department of State Services in Kano, who tracked and engaged the suspects, leading to the safe rescue of the victim. Two suspected kidnappers were also arrested during the operation and reportedly sustained gunshot injuries.
The State Commissioner of Information, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, confirmed the development, describing the outcome as a significant breakthrough in the state’s ongoing efforts to combat violent crime.
The government commended the professionalism and swift response of the security operatives involved, noting that the successful rescue reflects improved coordination among security agencies operating across the state.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was also acknowledged for his continued support to security agencies through the provision of resources and logistical backing, which officials say has strengthened their operational capacity.
Authorities emphasized that the incident underscores the importance of sustained collaboration between security agencies and the public. Residents were urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the appropriate authorities.
