President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday held an emergency meeting with Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to address rising insecurity in the state.

The governor arrived at Aso Rock around 6:45 p.m., according to the State House media office. The meeting comes days after a deadly Palm Sunday attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, which left at least 27 people dead.

The consultation follows an earlier presidential directive summoning Governor Mutfwang over the worsening security situation in Plateau State.

Earlier this week, President Tinubu condemned the attacks in Jos and a similar incident in Kahir village, Kaduna State, where wedding guests were reportedly killed and abducted. He described the killings as “barbaric and cowardly” and promised that the perpetrators would not go unpunished.

“Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill defenseless citizens is a heartless coward,” Tinubu said in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

While commending the Plateau State government for its efforts to contain the situation in Jos, the President directed security agencies to intensify operations to apprehend the attackers. He also cautioned sections of the media against framing the violence as religiously motivated, warning that such narratives could escalate tensions.

Wednesday’s meeting is expected to focus on immediate security measures to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of residents across Plateau State.
