The Kwara State Police Command has launched a large-scale security operation across the state, deploying personnel and resources in a coordinated show of force aimed at preventing crime and ensuring a peaceful Easter celebration.
The operation, led by the Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, is part of a broader strategy to strengthen public safety, deter criminal elements, and reassure residents during the festive period.
According to the command, the exercise involves joint collaboration with key security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, and the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Agency.
Police authorities said the proactive deployment covers strategic locations across the state, targeting potential security threats before, during, and after the Easter festivities.
The command emphasized that the operation aligns with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, mandating robust security arrangements nationwide during major celebrations.
“This show of force is not just a routine exercise; it is a clear message that Kwara State remains secure and hostile to criminal activities,” the police stated.
Security officials added that beyond Easter, surveillance and enforcement operations will be sustained to maintain law and order across the state.
Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements, as authorities intensify efforts to protect lives and property.
The latest move reflects growing emphasis on proactive policing and inter-agency collaboration as critical tools for maintaining stability during high-traffic festive periods in Nigeria.
