The Katsina State Police Command has issued a strong warning to applicants participating in the upcoming police constable recruitment examination, urging them to strictly follow official procedures and remain vigilant against fraudsters attempting to exploit the process.
The warning was contained in a statement released on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar-Fage.
According to the statement, the nationwide recruitment examination is scheduled to take place between April 28 and April 30 across designated centres, with Katsina State candidates expected to sit for the exercise at Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic along Dutsin-Ma Road.
The police commissioner clarified that only candidates who successfully passed the recent physical screening and credential verification exercise will be allowed to participate in the written examination.
He explained that the recruitment process remains strictly merit-based and that compliance with instructions is essential for smooth conduct of the exercise.
Applicants have been directed to access the official recruitment portal starting from April 24 to print their coloured examination invitation slips. The slip, according to the command, contains vital information including the candidate’s examination date, time, and assigned venue.
The commissioner stressed that candidates must present specific documents at the examination centre before being granted entry. These include a valid National Identification Number (NIN) slip issued by the National Identity Management Commission, a printed coloured examination invitation slip, and a writing pen.
He noted that the NIN slip must contain a clear photograph of the applicant to serve as an additional means of identification and verification at the venue.
In addition to documentation requirements, Umar-Fage also announced the approved dress code for all candidates participating in the examination. He stated that applicants are expected to appear in a white T-shirt, white shorts, and white canvas shoes.
According to him, adherence to the dress code is mandatory and forms part of the identification and standardization process for the recruitment exercise.
The commissioner further reiterated that the entire recruitment process is completely free of charge. He warned applicants against engaging with individuals or groups claiming to offer assistance in exchange for money, describing such actions as fraudulent and illegal.
He urged candidates to remain cautious and report any suspicious activities or individuals attempting to exploit the recruitment process for personal gain.
“Applicants should be wary of fraudsters who may try to extort money under the guise of helping them secure recruitment. The process is free and transparent,” the statement read.
Umar-Fage also warned that anyone found engaging in recruitment-related fraud or attempting to manipulate the process would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He emphasized that the police command is committed to ensuring a fair, transparent, and credible recruitment exercise that gives all eligible candidates equal opportunity.
The commissioner advised candidates to strictly adhere to the examination schedule indicated on their invitation slips and ensure they arrive early at their designated centres to avoid unnecessary delays or disqualification.
He also cautioned against loitering or engaging in activities that could disrupt the orderly conduct of the examination, stressing the importance of discipline and compliance throughout the process.
According to him, maintaining order at all examination centres is critical to the success of the recruitment exercise, and security personnel will be deployed to ensure full compliance with all guidelines.
The statement further encouraged candidates to carefully follow all instructions provided on the official recruitment portal and examination slips, as failure to comply could lead to disqualification.
Umar-Fage reaffirmed the commitment of the Katsina State Police Command to conducting a transparent recruitment process that upholds integrity and fairness.
He added that the exercise is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force through the recruitment of qualified and disciplined personnel who will contribute to maintaining law and order across the country.
The commissioner called on all eligible applicants to cooperate fully with authorities and ensure strict adherence to all rules and regulations guiding the examination process.
He concluded by wishing all candidates success in the upcoming examination and urged them to remain law-abiding throughout the recruitment period.
