Residents of Lamurde Local Government Area in Adamawa State are facing another round of movement restrictions after Governor Ahmadu Fintiri ordered an immediate 24-hour curfew following renewed clashes between communities in the area.

The latest directive comes after fresh violence reportedly broke out between members of the Chobo and Bachaman communities, resulting in the loss of lives and escalating tensions across the local government.

In a statement issued in Yola by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, the state government said the curfew was introduced as an emergency security measure aimed at preventing further bloodshed and restoring calm in the troubled communities.

According to the statement, security agencies have been directed to strictly enforce the curfew, with a warning that anyone found violating the order will face arrest and prosecution in line with the law.

The state government described the renewed violence as unacceptable, stressing that the protection of lives and property remains a top priority.

The development highlights the deep-seated tensions between the two communities, a conflict that has triggered repeated security interventions in recent months. In fact, the latest restriction marks the fourth time in less than six months that the Adamawa State government has imposed a curfew in Lamurde to contain the crisis.

Authorities say the measure will remain in force until the security situation improves.

Governor Fintiri also urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could help prevent further attacks and assist in maintaining peace in the area.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring stability in Lamurde and other parts of the state, noting that decisive action would continue to be taken against individuals or groups responsible for acts of violence.

Security personnel have since been deployed across affected communities to maintain law and order while efforts continue to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
