Voting started on schedule at Polling Unit 18, located at the Post Office in the Abuja Municipal Area Council, as residents participated in the Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections on Saturday.
The exercise officially commenced at about 9:05 a.m. following the display of the voter register and the completion of verification procedures by party agents using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System.
Observers at the polling unit reported an orderly process, with the BVAS devices operating efficiently and voters accredited without complications.
Security presence was visibly reinforced to ensure a peaceful atmosphere and safeguard electoral materials. Personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigeria Correctional Service were stationed at the venue to maintain order.
As of the time of filing this report, the voting process continued smoothly, with residents calmly exercising their civic rights under close monitoring by security agencies.
