Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has returned to the Federal High Court as his trial over alleged financial improprieties resumed.
El-Rufai arrived under tight but orderly security, following a temporary release granted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The release allowed him to attend the funeral of his late mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who passed away in Cairo, Egypt, and was reportedly granted on compassionate grounds.
It is unclear whether the former governor will maintain his temporary bail or return to ICPC custody pending the next court ruling. Legal observers say the case remains under close national scrutiny, as the proceedings are expected to shape the next stage of the high-profile trial.
