The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has expressed strong optimism that Nigeria will overcome corruption, using the Easter celebration as a message of hope and national renewal.

In his Easter address delivered in Abuja, Olukoyede said the significance of the season goes beyond religious observance, describing it as a powerful symbol of victory over trials, injustice, and corruption.

According to him, the message of Easter serves as a reminder that Nigeria’s long-standing battle against economic and financial crimes can and will be won.

“The lesson of Easter is one of victory over trial and corruption. As a nation, we must believe that we will overcome these challenges. Corruption does not define us, and it will not defeat us,” he stated.

The EFCC chairman called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and continue supporting the agency’s anti-corruption efforts, stressing that public cooperation is critical in achieving lasting accountability and transparency.

He reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to intensifying its crackdown on financial crimes, noting that sustained enforcement and civic responsibility are key to building a stronger and corruption-free Nigeria.

Olukoyede also urged citizens to embrace the core values of Easter — sacrifice, renewal, and righteousness — as guiding principles for both personal conduct and national development.

He emphasized that adopting these values would not only strengthen the fight against corruption but also foster unity and trust in public institutions.

The message comes at a time when Nigeria continues to push for greater fiscal discipline, transparency, and institutional reforms aimed at restoring public confidence and driving sustainable growth.
