A rapid response by the Nasarawa State Police Command has led to the successful rescue of a three-day-old baby abducted in Mararaba, underscoring growing concerns over child theft and domestic security in the area.

The infant was reportedly taken on March 28, 2026, from the residence of 19-year-old mother, Aisha Bada, in Unguwan Bawa, Orange Market, Mararaba. According to initial reports, unknown assailants forcefully entered the home, threatened the young mother, and fled with the newborn.

The child’s father, Abubakar Isah, was said to be out of state at the time of the incident, leaving the mother alone when the attack occurred.

Following a distress report filed by the family, detectives from Mararaba ‘A’ Division, acting on the directive of Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed, launched an intensive manhunt to track down the perpetrators.

The breakthrough came in the early hours of April 3, when operatives arrested two suspects—Furera Abdulrahman, 35, and Sadiya Abdullahi, 39—during a coordinated operation within the Mararaba axis.

Police authorities confirmed that the abducted baby was recovered unharmed and has since been reunited with the family after undergoing medical evaluation at a local health facility.

Spokespersons for the command disclosed that the suspects have confessed to their involvement and provided critical information leading to the identification of an accomplice who remains at large.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements within their communities.

This incident highlights both the vulnerabilities faced by young families and the importance of swift law enforcement intervention in preventing tragic outcomes.
