The Senate on Wednesday confirmed the nomination of Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, paving the way for him to replace Mrs Doris Uzoka-Anite in the Federal Executive Council.

Oyedele’s confirmation followed the consideration of his nomination by the Senate during plenary, where lawmakers approved the appointment through a voice vote after deliberations at the Committee of the Whole.

With the approval, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to swear in Oyedele to assume responsibility as Minister of State for Finance.

The nomination was transmitted to the Senate by the president a few days earlier, seeking legislative confirmation in line with constitutional provisions.

Oyedele, an economist and tax expert, is expected to play a key role in supporting the Federal Government’s fiscal and revenue reform agenda within the finance ministry.

His appointment comes as the Tinubu administration continues to implement economic reforms aimed at stabilising the nation’s finances and boosting revenue generation.
