President Bola Tinubu has assured media executives that the Federal Government will review concerns regarding tariffs affecting the media industry.
The President gave the assurance while hosting media proprietors and executives at an interfaith iftar held at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Tinubu said he had carefully listened to issues raised by industry leaders during discussions on challenges facing media organisations, including tariff-related matters affecting their operations.
“I’ve listened carefully to you. It’s as if you’ve worked with me today,” the President said, noting that the issue of tariffs had been part of discussions earlier in the day.
Although he did not immediately confirm whether any decision had already been taken, Tinubu assured the media leaders that the matter would be revisited if necessary.
“If I miss that, I’ll go back to rectify it,” he said.
Recognition of Media’s Role in Nation Building
During the engagement, the President also commended media organisations for their contributions to national development, noting that the sector plays an important role in informing and educating the public.
He acknowledged the industry’s impact on job creation, saying many media organisations provide employment opportunities while strengthening public awareness through information dissemination.
“The joy is that many of you have employed people to live a life and inform people to get information, educate and strengthen our minds,” Tinubu stated.
The meeting formed part of activities marking the end of the Ramadan fasting period and brought together media executives from print, broadcast and digital platforms across the country.
